4C Telecom SIP Trunks are a genuine alternative to ISDN30e. We provide a managed service covering the IP connectivity, SIP Trunks and number management which is no different than the ISDN30e.

What is SIP ?

While VoIP covers many different things, business ITSPs uses SIP, this is a viable alternative to traditional ISDN. SIP Trunks refer to individual SIP sessions and are in effect sold similar ISDN30e lines, therefore 10 SIP Trunks will allow you to have 10 simultaneous calls via your SIP provider.

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is the protocol that controls the call, this includes setting up the call and closing it down. The actual voice media uses another protocol RTP (Real Time Protocol), sent as normal IP packets. The IP traffic requires an internet connection to travel over and this is where the fun begins, as the required bandwidth is not normally provided by your ITSP. So just because you have ordered 10 SIP trunks doesn’t mean that you will have enough bandwidth to make 10 calls.

Number Provision

4C Telecom have numbers allocated on all UK dialling codes – allowing you to have the dialling code you require. In addition to this, any BT Retail number can be ported to our network, allowing your clients to retain their number when moving premises.

One of the great advantages of SIP is the ability to have numbers from any dialling code delivered to your office, regardless of  location.

Backup Options

SIP is ideal as a Disaster Recovery (DR) solution. Any number on the Spitfire network can be forwarded to any other location , as long as it is connected via a SIP Trunk or a normal telephone line. In the event of a failure of the main site, calls can be forwarded to home telephone numbers, mobile or other sites – or a combination of locations/numbers
